Condemnation of Jerusalem's Leaders

11
Chapter 11
1 Then a spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. And behold, at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men. And among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, princes of the people. 2 And he said to me, "Son of Adam, these are the men plotting in the North and counseling the counsel of moral evil in this city of refuge." 3 The ones saying, "Is it not soon, the houses! She has not been eaten, and we are the flesh." 4 Therefore prophesy against them, son of man; prophesy. 5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and he said to me, "Say, 'Thus says the LORD: "Thus you have said, house of Israel, and the ascents of your spirit—I know them." ' " 6 You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with slain. 7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain ones, whom you put in her midst, they are the flesh, and she is the pot, and he brought you out from her midst. 8 "You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you," declares the Lord GOD. 9 And I will bring you out from her midst, and I will give you into the hand of foreigners, and I will execute judgments in you. 10 By the sword you will fall at the boundary of Israel; I will judge you, and you will know that I am the LORD. 11 It will not be to you as a pot, and you will be in its midst as flesh not to the border of Israel. I will judge you. 12 And you will know that I am the LORD. For you did not walk in my statutes, and you did not do my judgments, but you did according to the judgments of the nations that are around you. 13 And it happened as I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. And I fell on my face and cried with a loud voice and said, "Alas, Lord GOD! You have finished; you have made an end of the remnant of Israel." 14 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying. 15 Son of Adam, your brothers—your brothers, the men of your redemption and all the house of Israel, all of them—whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem said about them, “They have been far removed from the LORD; the land has been given to us as an inheritance.”
